07/14/07 - Sharks Defeat Seven Locks; Finish Season at 3 Wins, 2 Losses
In our last regular season meet, the Sharks swam to a 457-355 victory over Seven Locks. Senior swimmers Lindsey Peller and Allie Wolfe both swam personal bests in their events, as did Sara Feldman in her last Stonebridge meet. We hope to have Allie and Lindsey back in the pool next year, and wish them well on their college adventures between now and then! Congratulations to Valerie Hubert who dropped over 2 seconds in the 25 Fly - very impressive this late in the season!

07/12/07 - Congratulations Long Course Swimmers!
Stonebridge swimmers in the Coaches' Long Course events did very well last week, taking places all the way from 3rd to 8th over the course of several events. Kenneth Ke and Benjamin Hsieh placed 4th and 8th respectively in the Boys 12U 100 IM. Kenneth also placed 3rd in the 12U 100 Free; Lila Vera placed 4th in the 12U 100 Back; Madeleine Li placed 5th in the 14U 100 Back, Ben placed 5th in the 12U 100 Butterfly; and, Allie Klatzkin and Lila placed 6th and 7th respectively in the 12U 100 Butterfly. We're very proud of these swimmers for representing our team in the meet!

07/11/07 - 40 Swimmers Swim Personal Bests v. Kentlands!
Forty of our swimmers swam personal bests last week against Kentlands in our last regular season B Meet. Special congratulations to Elizabeth Kim who dropped almost 5 seconds in free and an impressive 8 1/2 seconds in back! Congratulations also to Emily Ma who dropped time in all 5 events she swam, including over 7 seconds in the IM! This was an impressive week for IM swimmers. Drops in the IM were made by:

07/07/2007 - Sharks Defeat Stonegate in Close Meet!
The Sharks swam a great meet away at Stonegate. Leading by only 4 points at half time, everyone gave it their all and the Sharks defeated the Serpents by only 11 points, with a final score of 390 to 401. congratulations to Ben Hsieh, Allie Klatzkin, and Lila Vera who once again broke the opposing team's pool records! Way to go Sharks!

07/05/2007 - Sharks v. Lakelands
In the first home B Meet of the season, the rain came and went but Shark spirit stayed strong! All of our swimmers turned in great performances. Special congratulations for some outstanding improvements:

• Justin Cho dropped 12.59 seconds in the 50 Free;
• Sara Keller dropped nearly 16 seconds in the 50 Free; and 25 Breast combined;
• Paul Malinauskas dropped over 6 seconds in the 100 IM and almost 9 seconds over his four events;
• Isabel Present dropped almost 6.5 seconds in the 25 Back;
• Chris Zeng dropped over 12 seconds in the 100 Free and 50 Fly combined; and,
• Bowen Zhi dropped over 16 seconds in the 50 Fly!

07/01/2007 - A Relay Carnival

Despite our first last place finish in recent (and not-so-recent) memory, the Sharks fought hard on Sunday, July 1, in the Division C Relay Carnival, taking one first place and setting a new team record in the Boys' 14U 175m Free Relay. The girls' medley team members were Michele He, Jasmine Zhu, Allie Klatzkin and Lila Vera. They went extremely fast, finishing almost 10 seconds ahead of the 2nd place team! The boys' record was set by Stephen Xu, Kenneth Ke, Raymond Zhou and Alex Li, with a new time of 1:52.41.

06/30/2007 - Sharks v. Westleigh

Sharks: 365 — Westleigh: 426

The Spartans - or SHARKS, rather - fought a good fight, but suffered a tough loss to fierce rivals Westleigh by a score of 426 to 365. Despite the loss, MANY Sharks records were broken. Special congratulations to Ben Hsieh, Allie Klatzkin, and Lila Vera who all broke Westleigh pool records! In other impressive swims, Raymond Zhou dropped nearly 3 seconds off his IM time to take the new record, while younger brother Justin Zhou dropped nearly 4 seconds off his 25 Free time and almost 3 off his 25 fly! Allie Wolfe knocked nearly 8 seconds off times over three events, and Kerry Nisson took nearly 4 seconds off her 100 Breast time. At the other end of the girls' age groups, special note to Gabriela Glueck who dropped almost 2 1/2 seconds off her 25 fly!

06/23/2007 - Sharks v. Poolesville

Sharks: 359.5 — Poolseville: 428.5

The Sharks swam at home agains Poolesville on June 23. Despite some impressive times and personal bests, the team suffered its first loss of the season by a score of 428.5 to 359.5. One new record was set by Lila Vera in the Girls 11/12 50 Fly, and nine swimmers had all-star times in fifteen events. Special congratulations go to swimmers David Greenblott who dropped over 10 seconds in freestyle, Dalton Carlson, who dropped over 11 seconds in two events, and Abby Hsiung who dropped nearly 10 seconds in two events!
